Rider Profile

Izzy King

Since I can remember both me and my family have had a huge passion for horses and I have always wanted them to be a part of my life. We could never afford to buy a horse when I was younger, I always loaned and had very different experiences with all of them! From unbroken Exmoor ponies, to just backed 6 year old Connemara`s, they all in some way made me the rider I am today. I took part in all Pony Club activities when I was younger and absolutely loved it, but found it quite tedious as the years went on. I never really had a "jumping" pony when I was younger, they all jumped but never had the "wow" factor. My main first pony Gem who we later bought and do still own was more of a Dressage horse and that is where my first competitive streak began! I then started to ride my Mother`s Arab "Jimbo", he taught me to love jumping bigger and went an won me my first ever trophy at a local open show, from that day on I knew where I wanted to be.

I then purchased a rather green, dangerous mare called Lady, it took nearly a year to be able to ride her, mainly due to lack of trust and confidence in both herself and her rider. She was nearly sold on many occasions but as soon as I started jumping her I realised we had quite a talented little horse.. As the years went on her talent and love for Show Jumping became clearer every day. Being placed every time out, jumping heights only some people dreamed of at home, we realised we had something special! We affiliated her in Winter 2009, and since then she has gained double clears at Newcomer`s level and is proving to have outstanding potential for a 15hh temperamental mare who was considered dangerous and unpredictable!

In August 2009, we purchased a very special youngster called May, out of a Quick Star stallion and a Whirlwind mare, Ratina Z and Gaboulet A lines and a sister to "Big Star" Nick Skelton`s stallion. We bought her as a 2 year old and aimed to break and produce her when she was 3. She has been a complete dream in many respects but also quite a handful! She is now broken and going beautifully on the flat and is showing huge potential over a fence. We hope she is going to be a big contender for the age classes in the future, and will hopefully be my under 21 young rider team horse in the future.

I now have Arie, a 16.2hh branded Belgium Warmblood, he has done Foxhunter and B&C classes with his previous owner, and my aim is for him to be my young rider horse and jump under 18`s and hopefully have a successful future along side May and Lady. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, I would not be where I am today without you all!
